Mogen’s Heroes in Concert

Mogen’s Heroes LOVE playing in YANKTON! This three-piece group of goofballs has great fun making music. They play and sing a wide variety of music, so listeners should find themselves singing along. John Mogen, former music educator, plays keyboards. Denny Gale, guitarist extraordinaire, has been with the group for almost a quarter century. Bill Hoffman, drummer, can hit the high notes. All three are from smaller towns in South Dakota, and now live in Sioux Falls. Mogen’s Heroes was inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame in 2018.

Mogen’s Heroes are playing as part of the Yankton Area Arts Annual Summer Concert Series held each Tuesday night at 8:00 throughout the summer at Riverside Park Amphitheater. All concerts are free due to the support of the City of Yankton and Yankton Parks and Recreation.

Yankton Area Arts is a non-profit organization located at 508 Douglas in Yankton, SD.

2021 Great American Cleanup

Keep Yankton Beautiful’s 2021 Great American Cleanup will take place from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24. Individuals, businesses, civic organizations, church groups, families, and any other group interested in participating are invited to join us starting at 9 a.m. at the Fantle Memorial south picnic shelter. The event will begin with a safety briefing, bag and glove distribution, and route assignments. Volunteers will then walk or drive to their chosen/designated routes to pick up litter. Routes typically take no more than an hour to clean, and volunteers may leave their collected garbage on the side of the route for Keep Yankton Beautiful board members to collect.

Groups who wish to clean their route on a weekday while still having their collected litter count towards the Great American Cleanup totals may do so between Saturday, April 24 and Saturday, May 1. Bags, gloves, and routes will be provided to these groups and may be picked up at the park during the event on Saturday April 24, from 9-11 a.m.

The Great American Cleanup (GAC) is the nation’s largest community improvement program, taking place annually with over a half-million volunteers participating within the hundreds of Keep America Beautiful affiliates nationwide. On average, Keep Yankton Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup includes over 300 participants and over 3,000 pounds of trash collected annually. We look forward to another successful cleanup event on April 24, 2021. Together, we Keep Yankton Beautiful!
