Meridian en Blanc…Building Bridges

Back on the Bridge!

After several years hosting the Meridian en Blanc in various locations, we are excited to host you on the iconic Meridian Bridge, once again! Ticket holders will enjoy a meal prepared by Counterfeit Catering and wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Building Bridges

In partnership with Connecting Cultures, we will shine a light on and lift the voices of our neighbors and friends and the good work they are doing in our community. Guests will enjoy music by James Dean, artwork created by Jenny White, and Dreamcatchers made by Josie Traversie.

Make Art Happen

In 2019, YAA began our Make Art Happen initiative with an instrument drive. We have collected, repaired, and donated 30 instruments to the local school district band program. This initial program will continue to grow, but it’s time to expand our reach in the community.

All proceeds from Meridian en Blanc will support the next phase of Make Art Happen! YAA will be raising money this evening to provide scholarships for local youth to attend arts camps in our community and beyond. Additionally, we will be giving away quality art supplies each month to kids in our community so they can create art at home!

Tickets are $50 and may be purchased between June 15 and July 2, 2021 here, at G.A.R. Hall (508 Douglas in Yankton), or by calling 605-665-9754.

BRUSH SERIES

Most of this work has been composed of individual units pertaining to the visual symbol of the paint brush. This series includes a “Dadaist” reference by mass producing a ready-made object. Although the shape chosen more closely resembles a house painting brush, the visual connection between the brush and creativity is a genuine one. Each of these groupings contains a minimum of 300 brushes. The significance of the multiple has been emphasized and is a large part of the statement that they are intended to make, with over 7,000 brushes completed. Learn more here!

ARTIST STATEMENT – Gary “Crash” Hull

Gary “Crash” Hull is a Yankton Artist. His work is surf culture inspired metal sculpture. Crash is also a model car enthusiast, embellishing with gold leaf, and mounting for viewing.

A reception honoring the artists will be held on Friday, July 2, from 5-7pm.
All exhibits are free and open to the public.
