March 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Our understanding of mental illness is very different today than it was 142 years ago when the Yankton State Hospital was open for patient care. What will we know about it a150 years from now? What methods of treatment we use today will be considered inhumane to future generations? Exhibit Coordinator of the Mead Cultural Education Centers 2020 exhibit Yankton State Hospital: Minds, Methods, and Medicine, Crystal Nelson, will discuss the last 150 years of mental illness in Dakota focusing on the changes in mental health diagnosis and treatments.
This is an online only event. Tune into the Mead Cultural Education Center on March 5th at noon to view the presentation.
