As new territory lured settlers into Dakota, the military protected them, surveyed, mapped the terrain, and built roads. This exhibit looks at the lives of frontier soldiers and will include relevant artifacts from the Dakota Territorial Museum Collection. This exhibit is made possible through the South Dakota State Historical Society.
The Mead Cultural Education Center is open Monday – Saturday 10 am to 4pm (September to May) & Monday – Friday 10 am to 4pm, Saturday – Sunday 12pm to 4pm June to August.
