Mead Cultural Education Center

Opening December 15, 2018

The Dakota Territorial Museum calls the Mead Cultural Education Center home after opening in 2018. The Mead Building, built in 1909,  was formerly used by the State Hospital. Open to the public is the Children’s Transportation Museum and the first main exhibit, Journeying Forward: Connecting Cultures through Corps of Discovery. The children’s museum is a must-see for kids of all ages, as they can play on a boat, wagon, train engine, car, and plane. These first exhibits are just the beginning of a multi-year project to open more of the galleries that will allow visitors to experience what life was like over the past 200 years. Classes and other fun programming are also a part of the experience at the Mead Cultural Education Center.
